Location: Leigh

Days: Monday–Friday

Hours: 08:30–16:00 (occasionally until 16:30 on Tuesdays for training)

Pay: £160–£250 per day

Duration: Until Christmas, with potential for extension / temp to perm for the right candidate

We are seeking a passionate, resilient and skilled Primary Teacher to join a fantastic SEMH specialist school in the Leigh area. This is a rewarding long-term role working with pupils who present with SEMH, ASD and complex needs, requiring a calm, nurturing and adaptable practitioner who can inspire confidence and create a safe space for learning.

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation, communication and behaviour. Classes are small, and you will have strong support from experienced Teaching Assistants, behaviour teams and SEN specialists.

This role would suit a teacher who:

  • Has experience or a strong interest in SEMH, ASD or complex needs
  • Can build trusting, positive relationships with pupils who may struggle to engage
  • Is confident using trauma-informed, therapeutic and consistent approaches
  • Can adapt lessons creatively to meet varied learning styles and needs
  • Remains calm, patient and professional under pressure
  • Works well as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is desirable, not essential
  • Experience in SEN / SEMH settings is desirable
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Willingness to attend weekly training sessions on Tuesday afternoons
