About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with complex needs in a school setting in Hayes. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting a pupil with additional needs to access learning, develop independence, and thrive within a structured and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will be patient, proactive, and confident supporting children with a range of complex needs, which may include Autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and associated behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure accessibility and engagement.
  • Implement strategies from the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behaviour Support Plan (BSP).
  • Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour using agreed approaches.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, therapists and external professionals.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to staff and parents where required.
  • Foster independence, social interaction and communication skills.
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience supporting children with complex SEND needs on a 1:1 basis.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language needs, and sensory processing difficulties.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant SEND TA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach is essential.
