Help transform a young person’s future – without the pressures of classroom life. Are you an experienced teacher who understands that meaningful learning begins with trust? Do you have experience supporting autistic young people with a demand-avoidant profile, high anxiety and complex emotional regulation needs? Would you thrive in a role where you have the time and flexibility to build a genuinely individualised programme around one young person?

At SEND Inclusion Support, we offer qualified teachers the opportunity to step away from the rigid demands of traditional schooling and deliver relationship-led, one-to-one education through our Nurture Pathway. We are currently seeking a calm, resilient and experienced Nurture Teacher to support a secondary-aged learner in the Billinge area from September 2026. The young person has complex SEND, including autism with a PDA profile, ADHD, sensory-processing needs and dyslexia. They require a practitioner who can work confidently within a low-arousal, trauma-informed and demand-sensitive approach.

Provision will initially focus on establishing safety, trust and consistency within the home environment. As the relationship develops, sessions may expand into carefully planned community-based learning and practical activities. This is not a conventional tutoring role. Progress will begin with connection, emotional regulation and engagement before developing into a personalised curriculum incorporating literacy, numeracy, PSHE, preparation for adulthood and the young person’s individual interests.

The successful practitioner will:

  • Hold QTS or QTLS
  • Have experience supporting autistic young people with complex needs
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of PDA and demand-sensitive practice
  • Be confident supporting behaviours of concern using calm, proactive and low-arousal strategies
  • Understand the importance of clear boundaries, consistency and careful risk management
  • Be able to plan creative, interest-led learning appropriate for a secondary-aged learner
  • Be available for up to 10 hours of consistent in-person provision each week
  • Be able to travel to the Billinge area

Experience within specialist SEND provision, alternative provision, SEMH services or a highly supported secondary setting would be particularly valuable.

What we offer:

  • £26.00–£32.00 per hour
  • Paid planning and preparation time
  • A consistent one-to-one placement
  • Flexibility when agreeing the weekly timetable
  • Access to Twinkl teaching resources
  • Regular support from our Nurture Pathway team
  • Detailed referral and support information before commencement
  • A genuine opportunity to make a sustained difference to a young person’s education and future

Safeguarding and suitability checks will be completed before commencement. The successful applicant will be fully briefed on the young person’s needs and the relevant risk-management arrangements before accepting the placement.

Job type: Part-time, temporary – although full time is possible with our other students.
