Are you an enthusiastic English Teacher who wants to do more than simply deliver lessons?
SEND Inclusion Support is working with a fantastic partner school in Oakham to recruit an English Teacher for a fixed-term maternity cover within a specialist therapeutic setting for young people with SEMH needs .
This is an opportunity to join a supportive team and work with young people who may have previously struggled to engage with mainstream education.
The role
You will teach English while adapting your approach to the individual needs of pupils.
You'll be responsible for:
Planning and delivering engaging English lessons
Adapting the curriculum for pupils with SEMH needs
Building strong, positive relationships
Supporting literacy, communication and confidence
Creating a calm and predictable learning environment
Encouraging pupils to re-engage with education
Working closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider therapeutic team
Tracking progress and adapting teaching accordingly
About you
We're looking for a teacher who is:
Qualified to teach English
Patient, resilient and consistent
Confident managing challenging behaviour
Able to adapt teaching to individual needs
Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
Comfortable working within a therapeutic, relationship-led environment
SEMH, specialist, AP or alternative education experience would be highly desirable.
