Nurture Mentor

About the Role Send Inclusion Support are looking for an experienced and compassionate Outreach Nurture Mentor to provide pastoral and emotional support to two students with SEND and SEMH needs . The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with particular experience supporting young people experiencing anxiety . This is a rewarding role for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with young people and provide consistent, nurturing support to help them engage positively with their education and develop their confidence, emotional wellbeing and independence. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 pastoral and nurture support to two students. Build positive, trusting and consistent relationships with students. Support students experiencing anxiety and emotional barriers to learning . Help students develop strategies to manage emotions, anxiety and challenging situations. Encourage engagement with learning and support positive routines. Work closely with schools, families and other professionals where appropriate. Maintain clear and professional records of support and progress. Promote a calm, safe and inclusive environment. Adapt your approach according to each student's individual needs. Support students to develop confidence, resilience and independence. Essential Requirements The successful applicant must: Hold a degree-level qualification or equivalent , or have HLTA-standard qualifications and experience . Have extensive experience working with SEND and SEMH students . Have significant experience supporting young people with anxiety and emotional wellbeing needs . Be confident providing pastoral, nurture and emotional support. Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Be patient, empathetic, consistent and able to remain calm in challenging situations. Be able to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the wider team. Hold appropriate Business Insurance for undertaking outreach work. Have an enhanced DBS or be willing to undergo the relevant safeguarding checks. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Working Pattern The role will be delivered over 3–5 mornings per week , depending on the needs of the students. This is an outreach-based position supporting two individual students in a pastoral/nurture capacity , rather than a traditional classroom teaching role. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is warm, reliable, experienced and nurturing , with the ability to understand the needs behind a young person's behaviour. You will be someone who can create a sense of safety and trust, particularly for students who may find education challenging due to anxiety, SEND or SEMH needs .
