Role Overview
The role involves providing 1:1 support and small group support (3–4 pupils) within classroom or school settings, under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
Key Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of the Class Teacher supporting individuals or small groups in targeted interventions.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils.
- Provide 1:1 classroom support or within small groups.
- Manage challenging behaviour.
- Assist with development and implementation of IEPs / Provision maps as appropriate.
- Support pupils consistently with recognising and responding to their individual needs.
- Encourage pupils to interact, work cooperatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.
- Determine the need for, prepare and maintain general and specialist equipment and resources.
- Keep and update records as agreed with the teacher, contributing to the review of systems/records as requested.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 1 year of experience supporting pupils with Autism or those with SEMH needs.
- Clear DBS registered with the update service.
- Availability Monday‑Friday (5 days a week).
- Empathetic, calm natured.
