The Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and resilient Key Stage 3 SEND Teacher to join their specialist provision supporting pupils with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a therapeutic education environment, delivering high-quality teaching alongside strong pastoral support. The role focuses on supporting pupils with neurodiversity, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will take a holistic approach to education, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and able to engage in learning. They will be responsible for delivering a creative and differentiated curriculum while promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for KS3 pupils
- Deliver a broad, balanced curriculum using nurturing and therapeutic approaches
- Design creative schemes of work and thematic learning projects linked to EHCP targets
- Incorporate functional Maths and English skills across all areas of learning
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of pupils with ASC and SEMH
- Provide learning opportunities in a variety of contexts, including community-based settings
- Act as a form tutor, building strong, consistent relationships with pupils
- Support pupils' emotional regulation, wellbeing, and personal development
- Use positive reinforcement and consistent behaviour strategies
- Promote independence, responsibility, and engagement in learning
- Work closely with therapeutic teams to support pupils displaying challenging behaviour
- Line manage and support classroom staff, including delivering supervision and appraisals
- Work collaboratively with support staff to implement individual education and behaviour plans
- Liaise with families, external professionals, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Support the development of a consistent, nurturing classroom environment
- Monitor and track pupil progress, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Produce progress reports and provide updates to senior leadership
- Monitor attendance and raise concerns where necessary
- Complete and review risk assessments for school and community-based activities
