SENCare Recruitment is recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work for a Primary Specialist day school based in Croydon.
The school caters for children aged 4‑11 years old with social, emotional, or mental health needs or autism spectrum condition (ASC). The role will involve 1:1 support for pupils within a classroom setting and small groups of 3‑4 pupils alongside the classroom teacher.
We are looking for candidates with experience working with SEMH, ASD, or ADHD.
Ideal candidate:- At least 1 year of experience supporting pupils with Autism or SEMH needs
- Clear DBS registered with the update service
- Available Monday‑Friday (5 days a week)
- Empathetic and calm nature
- Owns and drives a car
- Work under the guidance of the Class Teacher to support individuals or small groups in targeted interventions
- Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils
- Provide 1:1 classroom support or within small groups
- Manage challenging behaviour
- Assist with development and implementation of IEPs/Provision maps as appropriate
- Support pupils consistently with recognising and responding to their individual needs
- Encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others, engaging all pupils in activities
- Determine the need for, prepare and maintain general and specialist equipment and resources
- Keep and update records as agreed with the teacher, contributing to the review of systems/records as requested
