SENCare Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Worker to work for a Specialist School based in South Croydon.
About us: SENCare Recruitment is a niche recruitment agency that provides Special Educational Needs (SEN) professionals for SEN schools, mainstream schools, residential care homes and 1-1 home support through local authorities, across the UK. We offer short/long term placements on a temporary and permanent basis for specialist SEN teachers, teaching assistants, support workers, social workers, VI/HI practitioners and mid-day meal supervisors.
Start: ASAP
Hours: 8:45-3:30pm - Mon Fri
This is a Specialist School that caters for children and young adults aged 16-25 years old with Complex Needs & Wheelchair Users. The role will consist of assisting young adults with their mobility around the school and creating a safe and stimulated working environment.
We are looking for potential candidates that have experience with children or young adults with Complex Needs or Wheelchair Users.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have at least 6 months experience supporting adults or young adults with Complex Needs
- Have a clear DBS
- Be available Monday-Friday - 5 days a week
- Be empathetic and calm natured
Main duties:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with the pupils
- 1:1 classroom support
- Managing challenging behaviour
- To support pupils consistently with recognising and responding to their individual needs
- To encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all pupils in activities
