Support Workers/ Carers required for special School

Full-time work local to the Watford area. Permanent employment can be offered to the right candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering exceptional learning experiences to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom activities and resources tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils, promoting their engagement and participation in lessons.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all pupils feel safe, supported, and valued.
  • Monitor and track pupils' progress, documenting outcomes and providing feedback to teachers and parents as appropriate.
  • Participate in training and ongoing professional development to enhance support strategies for SEND pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and medical staff to implement relevant interventions and care plans.
  • Assist in managing behaviour and implementing strategies to support pupils’ emotional and social development.
  • Provide a stimulating but safe learning environment for students.
  • Support pupils with sensory development activities.

Prospective candidates are required to have:

  • At least 1 year’s experience working in mainstream or SEN/ SEND School(s), or as a Carer/ Support Worker/ Health Care Assistant within the UK.
  • Previous experience supporting complex needs (autism, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties and/or medical conditions).
  • Appropriate right to work in the UK for full-time work (sponsorship cannot be offered).
  • An in date DBS or be willing to apply for a new DBS through SENCare.
