SEMH/SEN Teaching Assistant – Ealing

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in delivering the curriculum effectively to students with SEMH needs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
• Provide one-on-one support to students experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties.
• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behavior and social skills.
• Work closely with parents, teachers, and other professionals to monitor and promote student progress.
• Encourage students to engage with learning activities and manage their behavior in the classroom.
• Help facilitate group activities that foster teamwork and interpersonal skills among students.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the teacher or management.
• Participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.

Essential Qualifications

• Good understanding of the educational needs of children with SEMH challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a caring demeanor.

Desired Experience

• Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN).
• Experience in a school setting is preferred, especially in roles focusing on SEMH support.
• Experience in managing challenging behavior and implementing strategies to promote positive changes.
