Hours: Early: 7:30 – 3:30 Late: 3:00 – 10:00pm

Here at Rowden House School we pride ourselves on giving the best possible care and life experience for our young people. As well as attending our onsite school, the young people go on various trips out; we go swimming, we go to cafes; do arts and crafts, cookery, sports, gardening and much more. We are completely led by our residents – we do whatever activities they are interested in (and we can reasonably facilitate!).

The role involves working a 3 week rolling rota pattern including evening and weekend work. This includes two double shifts occurring every 3 weeks and a mixture of early and late shifts.

About us...Rowden House School in Herefordshire provides individualised care and education programmes for children and young people aged 11 to 19 years, with severe learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.

We invest in our staff, offering a thorough induction programme, ongoing training & development and all Support Workers are enrolled on a NVQ Level 3 Children & Young People's Workforce training.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • An ability to identify and undertake any training necessary to develop within the role
  • Good sense of humour
  • Calm and even tempered
  • A natural respect for the dignity and individuality of residents
  • A valid current driving licence

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Previous experience within a residential setting
  • Experience of severe learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviour
  • Experience in the personal care and hygiene of another person
  • NVQ 2 or 3 in Care

Upon starting in this role you would qualify for a Blue Light Card – a discount service for the social care sector providing members with discounts online and on the high street.
