We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Headteacher to lead Bladon House School and its associated residential provision. This is a unique opportunity to drive outstanding outcomes for children and young people, with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
You will provide strategic leadership across education, care and therapeutic services, ensuring a safe, nurturing and high-performing environment for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the school and residential provision to deliver outstanding outcomes for pupils and families
- Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and promote the welfare of all children at all times
- Develop and implement the school’s strategic vision, including a rolling 3-year development plan
- Manage financial performance, including budgeting and long-term sustainability
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, including Ofsted standards
- Lead and develop a high-performing senior leadership team and wider staff body
- Oversee SEN provision, ensuring a personalised and high-quality curriculum for all learners
- Monitor teaching and learning standards, driving continuous improvement
- Maintain strong relationships with Local Authorities, families and external stakeholders
- Lead pupil assessment, admissions and placement processes
- Oversee recruitment, training, appraisal and performance management of staff
- Ensure effective health & safety practices across the whole site
- Act as a key safeguarding lead and oversee the DSL function
- Proven leadership experience within an educational setting (ideally SEN)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Experience managing budgets and financial performance
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and school improvement
- Experience preparing for and leading Ofsted inspections
- Ability to manage complex environments including education and residential care
