Bladon House School is a unique and thriving independent school that provides care and education for young people aged 5 – 19 with autism, communication disorders, moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated behavioural difficulties. The school will have around 70 pupils on roll with 24 of these as residential placements.
The school enjoys an excellent reputation with well-established relationships with commissioning bodies. This success has been built on a multi-disciplinary team approach which ensures that all areas of the students’ needs are met by a dedicated team of professionals. This strength will provide the foundation for future growth and development and there is a commitment to evolving to the next level of excellence for learning and to evidence outstanding outcomes for all students and their families.
The school is now seeking to appoint a new Head Teacher. You will share the school’s commitment to a multi-disciplinary provision, providing dynamic and inspirational leadership to all areas of the school – education, care and therapy – creating a shared strategic vision.
If you are an experienced school leader in a special school or SEN setting, with a successful track record of behaviour management support and a determination to maximise the opportunities for children with SEN, then this role offers an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment. Previous experience in a residential setting is not essential as you will be supported by an established Care Management team.
You must be ambitious and forward thinking with the ability to inspire and lead change but also the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. You will have the skills to build, lead and inspire effective teams and to be an effective team member while also having experience of successful performance management and staff development. Above all you will share the school’s passion and belief that students, their learning, their care and developing their potential is at the heart of all decisions.
We are committed to safeguarding those in our care – the successful candidate will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check and will be subject to thorough background checks.
2-day interview process: 23rd & 24th April 2026.
