About The Role
Semper Services is looking for a mechanically biased Project Manager to take responsibility for the technical and operational delivery of a varied portfolio of small works and larger mechanical projects.

Working closely with the Contracts Manager, you will manage projects from initial site survey through to mobilisation, delivery, completion and close-out.
The Contracts Manager will retain oversight of the wider contract, senior client relationships and account-level commercial performance.
You will focus on ensuring individual projects are accurately scoped, safely delivered and completed efficiently.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Mechanical Supervisor, Mechanical Project Engineer or Project Manager with a strong site-based engineering background who is ready to take ownership of a varied portfolio of works.
This is a project management role rather than a hands-on engineering position.
However, the successful candidate must have a strong mechanical engineering background and be confident surveying works, assessing technical requirements and supporting site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend client sites to survey and assess mechanical works.
- Develop clear scopes of work and identify labour, materials, plant, access and subcontractor requirements.
- Identify technical, health and safety, and operational risks.
- Prepare technical scopes and provide the information required to support quotations, project planning and procurement.
- Plan, mobilise and manage small works and larger mechanical projects through to completion.
- Coordinate engineers, suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
- Monitor progress against the agreed scope, programme and budget.
- Maintain a regular presence on client sites.
- Review RAMS, permits and safe systems of work.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and quality checks.
- Resolve technical and delivery issues promptly.
- Provide clear updates to clients and the Contracts Manager.
- Monitor labour, material and subcontractor costs.
- Highlight delays, variations, overspend and other commercial risks.
- Ensure completed works are properly documented, closed out and ready for invoicing.
- Identify additional or follow-on works where appropriate.
- Support urgent, weekend or out-of-hours works where required.
Essential Requirements
- Strong practical mechanical engineering or building-services experience.
- Experience within facilities management, maintenance, building services or M&E contracting.
- Experience surveying and scoping mechanical works.
- Experience managing projects or work packages from planning through to completion.
- Experience coordinating engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of health and safety in site-based engineering environments.
- Confidence communicating directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel regularly between the London office and client sites.
Desirable Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Plumbing, Heating, HVAC or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant City & Guilds qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely, SSSTS or SMSTS.
- CSCS or an equivalent site-access card.
- Experience delivering both small works and larger mechanical projects.
- Experience with HVAC, pumps, valves, pipework, plant rooms, heating or chilled-water systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical building services.
- Experience managing job-level costs, variations or margins.
- Experience carrying out site audits or engineering inspections.
- Professional accreditation, membership or chartered status.
A university degree is not required.
