Staying Close Service Transition Support Worker
Tameside Children’s Services are seeking committed Transition Support Workers to join our team for the Staying Close project. This pilot service supports children leaving care, especially those who have previously lived in children’s homes, providing practical, employment, emotional, and social support as they transition out of care.
The program aims to equip young people with skills for a successful and positive life in their own homes, supporting them until age 21.
About You
We seek Support Workers with vision and energy to build positive relationships with young people. You should have aspirations for their development and ensure access to opportunities that enhance interests and skills.
You should have knowledge of developing independence skills such as budgeting, cooking, shopping, DIY, paying bills, and dealing with utility and housing providers. All essential criteria in the attached person specification must be met for your application to be considered.
The role is initially a 3-month post, with the ideal candidate having qualifications in childcare (Level 3), experience working with adolescents aged 16-25, and familiarity with complex needs, behavioral challenges, and residential settings. The position is hybrid: the first 3 weeks require being in the office, then flexible working arrangements are possible. Interviews can be flexible, either teams or face-to-face.
