Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is seeking a qualified Adults Social Worker to join the Community Care West Team within Adult and Communities Directorate, based at Tredegar Business Park, NP22 3EL. This is an agile-working post, 37 hours per week, paying £21.14–£28.19 per hour via Prism, starting 13 July 2026.

In this role you will assess the needs of citizens and carers, developing and reviewing support plans that promote independence, choice and control. You will undertake care management with vulnerable adults, including risk identification and management, coordinate multi-disciplinary assessments, and work within the framework of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act. You will also support and supervise unqualified team members and act as an advocate for citizens and carers.

Essential Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Social Work
  • Registration with Social Care Wales
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working and a strengths-based approach
  • Working knowledge of the statutory framework including the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Human Rights Act
  • Knowledge of Continuing Health Care
  • Current driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • AMHP qualification and a Masters in a relevant field are desirable
  • An Enhanced DBS with Adult Barred List check is required.
