Semester Recruitment is working with Cheshire West and Chester Council, who are looking for a dedicated, resilient, and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Connected People's Team, based at The Portal, Ellesmere Port.

This is a vital role focused on supporting family and friends carers – including Special Guardians – through assessments and supervision, keeping children’s wellbeing and safety at the heart of all work.

  • Complete robust, timely assessments of connected carers, often within court-directed timeframes.
  • Provide ongoing support, advice, and supervision to family and friends carers and Special Guardians.
  • Work with complex care proceedings and contribute to permanence planning for children.
  • Collaborate closely with courts, legal teams, and children’s social workers.
  • Travel out-of-county as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Promote safe and stable care arrangements for children with known carers.

Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

  • Experience in fostering, court work, or permanence planning.
  • Strong knowledge of care proceedings, SGO processes, and connected carers assessments.
  • Confident in producing high-quality reports and working to tight deadlines.
  • Resilient, reflective, and committed to improving outcomes for children and families.
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight where required.
