Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a School Effectiveness Lead (Standards and Inclusion) for a fixed-term contract from 28 September 2026 to 31 March 2027, based at Piccadilly, Stockport (SK1 3XE). The rate is £500 per day.
This is a senior strategic role within the School Effectiveness Service Area, sitting within the Children's directorate. You will lead service delivery across standards, inclusion, and school improvement, working closely with school leaders, governors, and wider Local Authority services to drive outstanding educational outcomes for all children and young people in Stockport.
Key responsibilities include holding maintained schools to account on standards, leadership, and governance; providing high-quality support and challenge to school and system leaders; managing statutory assessment processes in Early Years and primary phase; leading the Anti-Poverty Strategy for Education; overseeing the Whole School Approach to mental health; managing Alternative Provision; leading the Early Career Teacher programme partnership; and line-managing staff across the school effectiveness team.
Candidates must demonstrate senior school leadership experience, the ability to think and act strategically, strong relationship management at senior levels, and sound knowledge of the school-Local Authority relationship. Experience of data analysis, report writing, and adaptive teaching approaches is essential, as is a commitment to inclusion and continued professional development.
