Job Title: Social Work Assistant (Long Term Temporary Post)

Please be aware this is a long term temporary post.

We are seeking a Social Work Assistant within Durham’s Children in Care service. The main responsibilities include:

1. Organising and overseeing family time with children in care and their families.
2. Supporting parenting interventions and lifestory work.
3. Completing data checks for dental, health, and SDQs for children in care.

You will be based within a central social work assistant team. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00, with some potential overtime in evenings, for which TOIL is available. Applicants must have a full driving license, business insurance, and be willing to use their car for work purposes. The role is based at Durham’s Abbeywoods office. Although the Children in Care service is county-wide, travel to other council offices, such as Seaham and Spennymoor, may be required.

Successful candidates will require an Enhanced DBS check.
