Southern Housing is seeking a Housing Officer to join its regional housing team covering the Kent and Essex area, based at Kent Science Park, Sittingbourne (ME9 8GU).

This is a hybrid role — you will spend significant time visiting estates and residents in their homes, with some home working subject to business need.

The rate is £19.23–£25.04 per hour, starting 12 August 2026.

At the frontline of housing services, you will manage a varied caseload covering tenancy management, welfare checks, safeguarding referrals, anti-social behaviour, void inspections, tenancy audits, and neighbourhood inspections.

You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners including local authorities and voluntary agencies, attend court when required, and support income management colleagues to maximise rental recovery.

Ideal candidates will have experience working in a housing management environment, a solid knowledge of relevant tenancy legislation and enforcement, and a track record of delivering excellent customer service.

Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise a busy workload.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for estate visits.

Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend working is expected.
