Help us strengthen safety nets for Wigan’s most vulnerable children and families. We’re adding short-term leadership capacity to our celebrated Front Door service and need an experienced Team Manager who can hit the ground running.
Contract at a glance
- Length: 3 months, with review/extension option
- Hours: 37 hrs pw, flexible & hybrid working (home / redesigned hub)
- Team: 1 Advanced Practitioner + 6 Social Workers on a 5-week duty cycle
- Model: Signs of Safety for robust, strengths-based early assessments
- Reports to: Service Manager
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the team through duty weeks, ensuring timely Children & Family Assessments and safe triage/sign-posting.
- Drive performance and reflective practice; champion Ofsted-rated “Good” standards.
- Model Wigan’s Be Positive, Accountable, Courageous & Kind culture and inspire colleagues across the Front Door.
What you’ll bring
- Proven management of CIN, CP and court-work caseloads.
- Track record of leading high-performing duty or safeguarding teams.
- Deep knowledge of the statutory framework and Signs of Safety practice.
- Energy to mentor practitioners while keeping children and families front-and-centre.
