Newport City Council is seeking a Youth Training Tutor on an interim basis to join their Youth Training Programme team, based at Godfrey Road, Newport, NP20 4UR. The role is offered via Prism at a day rate of £120.99–£158.80, with a start date of 7 September 2026.

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of commissioned youth training delivery. You will design, prepare, deliver, assess, and evaluate learning programmes to standards set by the service and relevant Awarding Organisations, ensuring full compliance with contractual and funding requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • recruiting and inducting learners
  • delivering personal development workshops
  • managing learner reviews
  • monitoring performance targets
  • collaborating with stakeholders, employers, and support agencies to facilitate effective referral pathways

You will build positive relationships with young people on both an individual and group basis, motivating them to achieve qualifications and access exit routes. You will also be responsible for embedding safeguarding principles throughout your practice in line with Council policy.

Essential qualifications

  • a minimum NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • a teaching qualification (PTLLS, IAG, PGCE or equivalent)
  • current registration with the Education Workforce Council
  • experience of working with vulnerable and challenging young people in an educational setting
  • inter‑agency partnership working
  • programme coordination
