Responsibilities

  • Support and Supervision of Foster Carers
  • Provide regular supervision visits and ongoing professional support
  • Offer advice on behaviour management, attachment, trauma, and safeguarding
  • Support carers during placements, including crisis intervention
  • Promote carers’ emotional wellbeing and resilience
  • Ensure foster carers understand safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Respond to allegations, concerns, or complaints involving foster carers
  • Work closely with child protection teams and regulatory bodies
  • Ensure children’s welfare is always the paramount concern
  • Contribute to placement matching to meet children’s individual needs
  • Support carers in implementing care plans and placement agreements
  • Attend and contribute to reviews, planning meetings, and professionals’ meetings
  • Promote stability and permanency for children
  • Identify carers’ training and development needs
  • Support carers to meet national fostering standards and competencies
  • Encourage reflective practice and continuous learning
  • Ensure children’s views, wishes, and feelings are heard and respected
  • Promote children’s education, health, and emotional wellbeing
  • Support carers to help children maintain positive identity and relationships
  • Advocate for children when necessary
  • Work collaboratively with children’s social workers, health, education, and other agencies
  • Share information appropriately and professionally
  • Participate in panels, reviews, and court-related processes
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records
  • Complete statutory reports and reviews
  • Ensure compliance with fostering regulations and policies
  • Complete annual foster carer reviews
  • Monitor placements and outcomes for children
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement
