An exciting interim opportunity has arisen at the London Borough of Lambeth for a Fire Safety Technical Lead to provide strategic and operational technical leadership across the Council’s housing portfolio, including its Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs). Based at 6 Brixton Hill, SW2, this role offers up to £600 per day (Ltd/Umbrella), starting 23 June 2026.
As Technical Lead you will act as independent technical authority on fire safety, fire engineering, and building safety risk — supporting the Council in its duties as Accountable Person and Principal Accountable Person for HRBs. You will provide specialist assurance across fire risk assessment actions, design compliance, contractor performance, fire protection systems, and incident investigation.
Key Responsibilities- Reviewing fire strategies, drawings, and specifications against Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 5839, and BS 5266.
- Undertaking risk‑based FRA action verification.
- Leading fire incident investigations and MOR escalation.
- Providing technical input to Building Safety Cases and BSR submissions.
- Managing and developing direct reports.
- Knowledge of construction types, compartmentation, external wall systems, and fire protection systems.
- Experience of compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022.
- A Level 4 Fire Safety qualification.
- Membership of IFE, IFSM, IOSH, or CIOB (or working towards).
