Thurrock Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Practitioner to join its Family Help service, based at the Civic Offices in Grays.

This is a non-case-holding role focused on providing oversight, supervision, and practice guidance to a team of approximately 5-6 Family Support Workers, ensuring effective progress against plans for children and families receiving Targeted Early Help and Child in Need interventions. You will use a systemic approach informed by Signs of Safety, monitor caseload activity and emerging risks, support decision-making and risk management, and help support effective transitions at Child Protection thresholds.

You will report to a dedicated Team Manager and liaise closely with Family Help Team Managers, ensuring timeframes are met and outcomes are evidenced.

Requirements: must be a qualified Social Worker with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience, and supervisory experience with qualified social workers, student social workers, or other qualified staff. Early Help experience and awareness of the Families First approach are desirable.
