Southwark Council is seeking a Customer Service Officer to join its busy contact service, handling initial customer contact via telephony on behalf of back office and technical teams. You will triage enquiries, resolving queries directly or connecting residents to specialist teams depending on complexity, covering areas including Housing and Environment (day and out-of-hours teams) and the SMART Customer Service and Telecare Support and Response Team, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You must be able to work flexibly between 8:00am and 8:00pm across a 36-hour contracted week. Strong communication and people skills are essential, along with resilience, emotional sensitivity and a genuine passion for continuous customer service improvement.
