Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Childrens Senior Practitioner to join their Area Services team in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU), on a temporary basis from 7 September 2026 at a rate of £18.92-£25.63 per hour (via Prism).
About the role
In this lead-practitioner role you will drive improvements in the quality of professional social work practice across the full casework cycle for children, young people and their families. You will hold a complex caseload within the children and families service whilst acting as a source of technical and professional expertise for less experienced colleagues - providing coaching, mentoring and quality assurance to support their development.
Key responsibilities
- Managing allocated complex cases to a high standard;
- Sharing thorough working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, guidance and departmental policy;
- Promoting effective partnership working with service users, other teams and external agencies;
- Supporting the Team Manager with any duties commensurate with the needs of the service;
- Contributing to performance management reporting and actively engaging in training and development activities.
Requirements & qualifications
- Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
- This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and is subject to an enhanced DBS/ISA check.
