Job Description
PBS (Semco UK) are looking for a Senior Buyer to join the business on a 3 month basis to be Responsible for leading and managing the procurement of complex and high-value goods and services for the company, ensuring that all purchasing activities align with strategic business objectives.
Details/duties:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that support the company’s operational and financial goals, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements that deliver value and ensure continuity of supply.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce procurement costs through effective negotiation, supplier consolidation, and alternative sourcing.
- Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and management of contracts with suppliers, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met and that risks are mitigated.
- Ensure that all procured goods and services meet the required quality standards and that procurement activities comply with company policies, HSEQ standards, and legal requirements.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to inform procurement decisions and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to buyers and procurement staff, supporting their development and ensuring alignment with overall procurement strategies.
- Generate detailed reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and savings achieved, providing insights to senior management.
Qualifications/Experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline desirable .
- Extensive experience in a procurement or buying role, including strategic sourcing and supplier management, preferably within the energy or construction sectors.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop procurement staff.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Excel.
