This role has the responsibility for supporting with the production of machined parts by setting and operating CNC equipment whilst maintaining quality and safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Setting up and operating CNC grinders, CNC milling machines and CNC lathes (Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain and Traub controls) as per defined tolerance levels.
  • Verifying the machine settings by measuring positions, carrying out trial runs and sampling work pieces.
  • Maintaining specifications by observing operations, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes and adhering to quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintaining equipment by completing preventative maintenance processes as per manufacturer instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions where possible and escalating to the relevant engineers for issues that fall outside of remit.
  • Maintaining continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Documenting actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Identifying improvements that have a direct impact on SQDCP KPI'S (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People).

Our perfect CNC Setter / Operator would have:

  • Experience of working within a similar role in a manufacturing environment with proven exposure to CNC machinery would prove advantageous.
  • The ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings.
  • A strong awareness of and full commitment to the adherence of health and safety guidelines.
  • Happy to listen and work as part of a team; collaborates and shares expertise with others.
  • A mind-set of continuous improvement; strives for perfection and a desire to achieve results.
  • A meticulous eye for detail; executes work to a precise standard and does not compromise on quality.
  • Well organised and efficient with a hands-on approach.
  • A proactive, pragmatic and flexible approach with the ability to work to own initiative.
  • The ability to operate and thrive within a fast paced environment whilst working well under pressure.
  • A strong level of conversational and written English.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship served in Engineering or a City & Guilds qualification in a related Engineering field or equivalent (desirable).

The hours you would work: Monday to Friday, 38.75 hours per week (an alternate two-weekly basis shift comprising of 6.00am-2.15pm and 2.00pm-10.15pm and occasional night shift 10.00pm-6.15am).
