Selwyn College, with a reputation for friendliness and good food, is recruiting for a full-time Commis Chef.

Job Overview

The Commis Chef will assist the Head Chef, Deputy Head Chef and Section Chefs in consistently producing the highest possible standard of food for our students, staff, Fellows and conference guests, and will contribute to the introduction of innovative dishes to enhance the overall dining experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, cooking and plating according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Support staff in service delivery and help to ensure service is never compromised.

Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge and passion for food; holding or working towards a professional chef qualification would be an advantage.
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to jump in to help.
