Job description

Looking for a role where you can see the results of your work?

We're looking for a Caretaker to help maintain safe, clean and welcoming environments across our housing schemes.

This is a hands‑on role that combines cleaning, minor maintenance and neighbourhood caretaking responsibilities. You'll be someone who takes pride in a job well‑done, has a keen eye for detail and understands the positive impact that well‑maintained communal spaces have on our customers and communities.

About the role

Working across a defined patch, you’ll be responsible for the day to day presentation, cleanliness and basic maintenance of communal and shared areas. You’ll work independently while also collaborating with housing, neighbourhood and contractor teams to ensure buildings and outdoor spaces are safe, tidy and compliant.

You’ll be part of a wider caretaking team, working alongside other caretakers when required and providing cover across schemes to maintain consistent standards. While much of the role involves lone working, there will be times when you work collaboratively with colleagues on shared tasks or larger jobs.

This is a practical, frontline caretaking role focused on maintaining clean, safe and well‑managed environments, supporting effective neighbourhood management and high standards across our housing schemes.

What we are looking for

We’re looking for a practical, reliable and self‑motivated individual who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of maintaining clean, safe and well‑managed communal environments.

  • Customer Driven – You understand that clean, safe and well presented spaces make a real difference to customers’ daily lives and take pride in maintaining high standards across communal areas.

  • Accountability – You take responsibility for your work areas and equipment, complete tasks to a consistent standard, and follow procedures to ensure health, safety and fire compliance.

  • Develop & Learn – You’re willing to learn, follow procedures and develop your cleaning and maintenance skills.

  • Champion Communication – You communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and customers.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience of working with the general public.

  • Experience in carrying out minor repairs.

  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to use systems such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams and internal housing management systems to complete admin and record keeping tasks.

  • Experience of cleaning work.

  • A full clean UK driving licence, as the role involves travel between housing schemes.

  • A commitment to Equality and Diversity.

For further information on the role, please review the job description attached to the advert.

Pre employment requirements

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Basic DBS, a DVLA check and a Right to Work check.
