The Pastoral Support Officer will provide support to a designated Head of Year in pastoral matters, focusing on behavioural issues, safeguarding and parental engagement. The role will also support the Attendance Officers with attendance issues within their designated year group. The position is based at Selston High School, a caring community school that recognises the importance of values such as respect for all, trust, pride, recognition and celebration of success.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral support to the Head of Year, addressing behavioural issues, safeguarding and parental engagement.
  • Assist Attendance Officers with addressing attendance challenges within the designated year group.

Qualifications

  • Experience of mentoring, coaching or working with young people, and experience of successfully working with young people with challenging behaviour.
  • Possess courage to challenge students to be their best and support them in removing barriers to learning, ensuring they reach their full potential.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Will be successful only after completing a satisfactory enhanced level DBS disclosure with a children's barred list check, two satisfactory references and successful completion of vetting procedures.

Salary & Working Conditions

  • Grade 4: £24,490 – £26,566 annual salary pro rata (£28,598 – £31,022 FTE).
  • Working pattern: 37 hours per week, 39 working weeks.
  • Contract term: Permanent.
