Seloxium Limited is a specialist precious metal recovery business unlocking critical and precious metal recovery. We are a fast-paced company at an exciting stage of development, scaling our operations across two sites — an R&D laboratory and back office function in Oxford and a pilot processing plant in the North East of England. As we grow, we are looking for a commercially aware, driven and credible Business Development Manager to join our team.
This mid-level role supports the CCO, sits within the commercial function and is central to expanding Seloxium's market presence across global markets in the chemical and engineering sectors.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with technical credibility in mining and hydrometallurgy to play a pivotal role in driving Seloxium's business growth. You will develop and execute business development strategies, identify new market opportunities, and build lasting client relationships on a global stage. This is a commercial role with strategic influence. You will be responsible for working alongside the CCO in identifying, developing and closing new business opportunities, while also nurturing and growing existing client relationships. Reporting directly to the CCO, you will act as a trusted deputy — stepping in to lead the commercial function when required and contributing to the wider strategic direction of the business.
This role suits someone who is equally comfortable presenting to C-suite executives as they are interacting with the plant operators.
You will be responsible for:
- Business Development
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across international markets, with a particular focus on the mining sector targeting clients generating precious metal-bearing waste streams.
- Building and managing a robust pipeline of prospects, from initial outreach through to contract signing, capturing information in a CRM diligently.
- Negotiating and co-managing commercial contracts, ensuring terms are commercially sound, aligning with company objectives, together with the CCO.
- Representing Seloxium at national and international trade events, conferences, and client meetings.
- Account Management
- Managing and growing relationships with existing clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Serving as a senior point of contact for key contacts, striving for high levels of client satisfaction and long-term retention.
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and commodity price movements to identify commercial risk and opportunity.
- Strategy & Commercial Support
- Preparing and presenting compelling business cases, proposals, and pitches to senior stakeholders.
- Helping prepare board-level reporting, forecasts and strategic presentations, as required.
This role is for you if you have:
- Proven experience in the mining sector - either in a technical role and are interested in moving to a commercial role, or someone who has already made this transition.
- A degree in a relevant discipline (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy).
Ideally you can also show:
- Experience working across global markets.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders in mining or resources businesses.
- Familiarity with precious metal markets, commodity pricing or waste-to-value processes.
- Business development experience with a track record of winning and growing complex B2B accounts with long sales cycles.
- Experience negotiating and managing commercial contracts.
- A strong track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets and closing complex, high-value deals.
Recruitment Process:
We want all our applicants to enjoy the best recruitment process possible, so we are sharing our recruitment process with you. Please also make us aware of any necessary adjustments we can make for you, so that you can achieve the best recruitment experience with us:
- A competitive salary.
- 25 days annual leave plus UK bank holidays.
- Excellent employee package, including generous pension, private healthcare, and share options.
