Overview of the In-House Property & Planning Solicitor role

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be partnering with a FTSE 100 housebuilder to recruit an In-House Solicitor to join their established Land & Housing Association Legal Team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's leading residential developers, working on high-profile residential and affordable housing schemes across the country. Offering the chance to be involved in major development projects from acquisition through to completion, the role provides a broad and commercially focused workload alongside genuine long-term career progression.

Based from either the York or Exeter office, with hybrid working available, you will work closely with stakeholders across Land, Planning and Regional Operating Businesses, becoming a trusted legal advisor within a market-leading organisation. This position would suit a solicitor with experience in property, planning or residential development who is looking to move into, or further develop, their career within a supportive in-house environment.

The In-House Property & Planning Solicitor will be required to:

  • Advise on a wide range of residential development and land matters.
  • Draft, negotiate and complete land acquisition and development agreements.
  • Manage and advise on Section 106 Agreements, including amendments and variations.
  • Support affordable housing and Housing Association transactions.
  • Undertake title reviews, property due diligence and prepare reports on land matters.
  • Advise on infrastructure agreements, disposals and general development work.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice to support strategic decision-making.

Required Experience for the In-House Property & Planning Solicitor:

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years' PQE.
  • Experience within Property, Planning, Real Estate or Residential Development.
  • Strong knowledge of land transactions and development matters.
  • Experience advising on Section 106 Agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commercial mindset.
  • The ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across a business.

Benefits for the In-House Property & Planning Solicitor:

  • Competitive salary with annual salary reviews.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Competitive bonus scheme.
  • Hybrid working (typically 2 days from home).
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Genuine long-term career progression within a FTSE 100 organisation.
