Location: Somerset with good transport links from Bristol. Exciting opportunity to join a successful in-house local authority legal team! Sellick Partnership have partnered with our Local Authority client in the recruitment of an experienced regulatory lawyer. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated lawyer to join the wider litigation team.
The successful applicant will deal with a broad range of cases including: planning enforcement, trading standards and health safety alongside conducting advocacy in the magistrates and county courts. In return you will receive a competitive salary, generous holiday and the chance to enrol in an excellent average salary pension scheme. Primarily a home working role with occasional attendance at the office to carry out specific tasks e.g. attend meetings/training and court hearings as required. With a focus on work/life balance and personal wellbeing, you will be offered flexible working and dedicated legal support. Requests for part-time hours will be considered.
Person specificationYou will need to be a confident court advocate, experienced in dealing with a broad range of matters. The post holder will ideally have knowledge and experience in handling a caseload of contentious regulatory matters, including criminal law and will be required to provide comprehensive advice to council departments covering a wide spectrum of public services. Local Authority experience is desirable but not essential. Experience gained from the private sector from a criminal defence perspective will also be considered.
