Sellick Partnership is working with a well-regarded accountancy practice in Bury who are looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their team permanently. The practice is part of a wider group with ambitious growth plans and this role has been created to support an expanding client base. It's a genuine opportunity for someone who wants to get stuck in from day one and build towards managing their own portfolio over time.

Overview of the Accounts Senior role:

  • You will be joining a small, close-knit team of seven, working on a varied mix of accounts, tax and compliance work for a broad range of clients.
  • The role is hands-on from the start, the practice needs someone who can contribute quickly rather than spend months finding their feet.
  • The business is open to candidates at different stages of their career, including those still working towards their qualifications and study support is available for the right person.

Key responsibilities of the Accounts Senior will include:

  • Preparation of accounts for a mixed portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Completion of VAT returns and ensuring clients remain MTD compliant.
  • Preparation of corporation tax computations and CT600 returns.
  • Personal self-assessment tax returns for directors, sole traders and individuals.
  • Management accounts preparation and financial reporting to support client decision-making.
  • Bookkeeping and ledger management for a range of clients.
  • Supporting and reviewing the work of junior team members.
  • Building and maintaining strong day-to-day relationships with clients.
  • Contributing to the wider team's KPIs and supporting the management team as required.

What we are looking for in the Accounts Senior:

  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice - this is essential.
  • Solid grounding in accounts preparation across a variety of client types.
  • ACA, ACCA or AAT qualified or part-qualified - qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • Comfortable with bookkeeping, VAT and personal tax.
  • Someone who takes ownership of their work and can manage their own deadlines.
  • A good communicator who builds trust with clients and works well within a small team.
