Sellick Partnership is recruiting a Principal Lawyer (Commercial and Procurement) to lead a small team within a reputable public sector organisation in Yorkshire. The role offers diverse responsibilities across commercial projects and procurement.

We seek a proactive team leader to deliver excellent legal advice in relation to commercial contracts and projects.

About the role

The team addresses: commercial contracts; public procurement regulations; intellectual property law; infrastructure projects; construction law (including the NEC suite); public transport schemes; major regeneration and energy projects; regional adult education, skills and training provision.

Responsibilities

• Lead all complex and high‑value public procurements, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior officers, Directors, members and government officials, to drive the Combined Authority’s commercial agenda.
• Shape, lead and manage the Commercial and Procurement service, providing a proactive, professional, comprehensive legal service to the Combined Authority.

Qualifications

You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to hold a current practising certificate or full CILEX Fellowship with significant recent post‑qualification experience, ideally in a public sector organisation.
