About the Chief Accountant opportunity:

Sellick Partnership is proud to have partnered with North Northamptonshire Council with their permanent recruitment for an exciting Chief Accountant opportunity. North Northamptonshire Council was established in 2021. Having gone through the LGR process they now successfully form one of the largest unitary councils in the country. North Northamptonshire Council have an established network of senior leaders from CEO to Assistant Director level that are working together to build a supportive "one-Council" culture which is central to their approach and helps to build solid foundations needed to drive future service improvements. This is an excellent opportunity to play an integral part in this as the Chief Accountant.

Key responsibilities of the Chief Accountant will include:

  • Lead in supporting the Assistant Director of Finance & Accountancy in relation to the Accountancy function
  • Close down of the Council's accounts
  • Production of the Statement of Accounts
  • Overall financial governance ensuring controls are in place and are being effectively maintained.
  • Take a leading role across the organisation in supporting Executive Directors, Assistant Directors and Service Managers in the overall stewardship of the Council's finances.
