A local authority delivering a significant modernisation and financial recovery programme is seeking an experienced Performance & Insight Analyst to support a high-profile transformation agenda. This role sits close to senior leadership and programme governance, where you will transform complex and often fragmented data into clear, decision-ready insight. You will support senior decision-making across programme boards, helping to build a consistent view of performance, delivery progress and risk. Working across transformation, finance, digital and operational teams, you will play a key role in strengthening performance understanding across a wide portfolio of change activity.
The responsibilities of the Performance & Insight Analyst will be:
- Deliver clear and concise performance reporting to support a council wide modernisation programme
- Build and maintain performance frameworks aligned to programme milestones and outcomes
- Produce dashboards, briefing packs and insight reports for senior stakeholders and boards
- Analyse operational and financial data to identify trends, risks and delivery progress
- Support benefits tracking including savings, efficiencies and service improvements
- Develop baseline data and ensure consistent performance measurement across workstreams
- Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting tools
- Work across transformation, finance, digital and service teams to align reporting
- Respond to ad hoc analytical requests linked to programme priorities
- Ensure high standards of data quality, governance and documentation
The ideal candidate for the Performance & Insight Analyst role will have:
- Experience within a local authority or complex public sector environment
- Strong background in performance or insight analysis supporting senior stakeholders
- Ability to work confidently with financial, operational and performance data
- Advanced Excel and Power BI skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior audiences
- Understanding of local government pressures and transformation environments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
Desirable experience:
- Exposure to transformation, modernisation or financial recovery programmes
- Experience with benefits tracking or forecasting
- SQL, DAX, Python or R skills
