Mobile Caretaker Nottinghamshire (Newark and surrounding areas) £18-£19 per hour Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm Company van + fuel card (take home) 3-month initial contract.
We’re working with a housing team to recruit a Mobile Caretaker / Neighbourhood Operative to support estates across Newark. This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you’ll act as the “eyes and ears” of the estate, helping to maintain safe, clean and well-managed neighbourhoods. You’ll be part of a supportive housing team, working alongside Housing Officers to engage with tenants and undertake minor maintenance tasks. No two days are the same – perfect if you enjoy working independently and being out in the community.
Key duties of the Mobile Caretaker / Neighbourhood Operative:
- Drive between estates (van provided – can take home)
- Carry out regular estate inspections and patrols
- Report and respond to issues such as:
- Fly-tipping
- Litter and dog fouling
- General estate condition
- Put up notices / warning letters where required
- Speak with residents and support tenancy matters (e.g., access requests like gas checks)
- Carry out basic DIY (e.g., minor repairs, gates, small fixes)
- Act as a visible, approachable presence within the community
- Work closely with housing teams and elevate any concerns
What we’re looking for from the Mobile Caretaker:
- Full UK driving licence (ideally clean)
- Happy working outdoors and travelling between sites
- Good communication skills – able to speak confidently with residents
- Reliable, practical and self-motivated
- Experience in caretaking, estates or facilities management or housing (desirable)
