Sellick Partnership is delighted to be recruiting for a Housing and Civil Litigation Lawyer to join a busy but friendly London Council. Our client is seeking Lawyers with experience in housing and civil litigation to handle a variety of matters, including possessions, disrepair, homelessness, judicial reviews, debt recovery and commercial property litigation matters.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-regarded local authority shared legal practice offering high quality, varied work and genuine career development. The role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with a requirement to attend the office two days per week, as well as court attendance. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified lawyer to join a highly skilled and collaborative team on a permanent basis.

Key responsibilities:
  • You will advise and conduct a variety of housing and civil litigation matters including homelessness, possessions, injunctions, disrepair, and general civil litigation matters.
  • To provide clear, practical legal advice to all clients of HB Public Law including local authorities and schools.
  • Attend meetings and court as required.
  • Deputise for others in more senior positions as required.
  • To give guidance, support senior lawyers, mentor and give training to less experienced members of the team.
Experience/qualifications required:
  • You must be a qualified (or soon to be qualified) Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or CILEx with Litigation and Advocacy Rights) with a current practicing certificate.
  • Able to work on a hybrid basis with two days per week in the office as well as attending court.
  • Able to work full-time. Part-time requests may be considered (no less than 3 days).
  • You must have experience in housing law and civil litigation. Any sector will be considered but previous local authority experience is advantageous.
