Contract: Permanent Overview of the Housing Management Solicitor role Sellick Partnership is currently working with a Housing Association, who are looking for an experienced Solicitor to join their Legal Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified legal professional with a strong background in property litigation, residential landlord and tenant and housing management to provide high-quality, commercially focused legal advice across the organisation.
- Key responsibilities of the Housing Management Solicitor position will include
- Provide high-quality, commercially focused legal advice across the Group, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders
- Manage a significant caseload of residential landlord and tenant, housing management, anti-social behaviour and property litigation matters
- Advise on commercial contracts, data protection and wider legal matters as required
- Manage litigation effectively and achieve optimal legal and commercial outcomes for Settle Paradigm
- Represent the Group at Courts, Tribunals and other forums where required
- Work with Directors and Heads of Service to identify legal risks and develop appropriate mitigation and control strategies
- Coordinate the Group Legal Risk Register and associated reporting, providing advice to executives and non-executives
- Support the Head of Legal with the development of appropriate systems and processes for managing litigation
- Develop and deliver training and knowledge-sharing initiatives across residential landlord and tenant, housing management and litigation
- Prepare high-quality reports and presentations for senior stakeholders, including Executive and Board level
- Contribute to a high-performing, multi-skilled and adaptable Legal Services team and wider culture of continuous learning and improvement Required experience/qualifications of the Solicitor position will include
- Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales with a current practising certificate, or eligible to apply for one.
- Alternatively, a Barrister called to the Bar of England and Wales
- Strong track record in contentious property matters and property litigation
- Significant experience across residential landlord and tenant, housing management, anti-social behaviour and/or service charges
- Good knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules, housing management, residential landlord and tenant law and contract law
- Proven ability to manage a demanding caseload and deliver results within tight deadlines
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce and deliver high-quality reports and presentations up to Executive and Board level
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with senior leaders, colleagues, partners and other stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively across a diverse, multi-disciplinary organisation
- Experience using legal case management systems and technology effectively Desired experience for the Housing Management Solicitor position will include
- Experience working within an in-house legal team
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and commissioning and managing external legal providers
- Experience designing and delivering training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Knowledge or experience within social housing, charities/not-for-profit, property and development or another regulated sector
