Interim Rate: £400 - £500 per day

Location: Southwest - hybrid working - minimum 3 days per week on site

Contract: 6 months +

Sellick Partnership is happy to be supporting a Local Government client in their search for a Finance Manager (Technical) for an initial 6 month contract.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Manager (Technical) will include:

  • Assist in the preparation of the Council's annual Statement of Accounts, including the production of supporting working papers
  • Support the annual external audit process by liaising with auditors, responding to audit queries and contributing to the timely completion of the audit
  • Prepare monthly VAT returns and provide technical advice on VAT legislation
  • Manage the Council's vehicle leasing programme
  • Prepare financial journals and technical accounting adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Produce monthly management accounts for Council charities
  • Collaborate with Council services, schools, partner organisations and other local authorities to gather financial information required for statutory reporting
  • Deputise for senior finance colleagues at meetings
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the CIPFA Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting, UK GAAP and Charity SORP to ensure compliance with current accounting standards

Required experience/qualifications of the Finance Manager (Technical) position will include:

  • Professional Accountancy qualification
  • Experience of preparing statutory accounts within Local Government
  • Ability to work on site in the Southwest at least 3 days per week
