Sellick Partnership is recruiting an experienced Interim Finance Manager to support a busy, high-performing General Fund Housing service within a respected local authority. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic public-sector finance professional to add real value during a critical period of change and financial pressure.

The Role

  • Working closely with the Head of Finance and senior housing leaders, the Interim Finance Manager will take the lead on all financial management activity across the General Fund Housing portfolio.
  • You will provide robust technical and strategic support covering:
  • Budget setting, monitoring and forecasting
  • Monthly reporting, variance analysis and financial modelling
  • Oversight of temporary accommodation, homelessness, allocations and housing needs budgets
  • Supporting savings plans, service redesign and cost-mitigation strategies
  • Preparing reports for senior leadership, committees and external stakeholders
  • Strengthening financial controls and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and local authority frameworks
  • Business partnering with operational housing teams to drive informed decision-making
  • Supporting year-end closure, working papers and audit engagement

About You

  • The successful candidate will be an adaptable and confident finance professional with:
  • Local government experience (essential)
  • Strong understanding of General Fund Housing, temporary accommodation pressures and demand-led budgets
  • Excellent budget management, forecasting and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to senior leaders and non-finance colleagues
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to operate at pace
  • CCAB/CIMA qualification (preferred but not essential for the right interim)
