Full Time I Permanent

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be partnering with a FTSE 100 housebuilder to recruit a Legal Counsel into their established Land & Housing Association Legal Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market-leading residential developer and work on large-scale, high-value development projects across the UK.

You will play a key role in supporting land acquisition and development activity, working closely with internal teams across Land, Planning, and Regional Businesses. From day one, you’ll gain exposure to live projects, advising on deals from initial acquisition through to completion.

This role offers genuine end-to-end deal ownership, commercial exposure, and the opportunity to become a trusted legal advisor within the business.

The role:

  • Advise on a broad range of residential development and land matters
  • Draft, negotiate and complete:
  • Land acquisition agreements
  • Option agreements
  • Development agreements
  • Lead on Section 106 Agreements, including negotiations and variations
  • Support affordable housing and housing association transactions
  • Undertake title reviews, due diligence, and reporting on land risks
  • Advise on infrastructure agreements, disposals, and site setup matters
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across land, planning and commercial teams
  • Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on live developments

You will have real involvement in deals, not just support work, making this a highly hands-on, commercially engaged in-house role.

About you:

This role will suit a solicitor looking to move into, or further develop, their in-house career within residential development.

You will have:

  • Around 2+ PQE with a background in:
  • Real Estate
  • Residential Development
  • Land / Property Law
  • Strong experience in land transactions and development work
  • Exposure to Section 106 Agreements and/or affordable housing matters
  • Experience undertaking title reviews and property due diligence
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to advise non-legal stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and confidence building relationships across a business

Candidates from private practice (acting for developers) or in-house housebuilders are highly encouraged to apply.

Benefits for the role:

  • Competitive salary with annual salary reviews.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Competitive bonus scheme.
  • Hybrid working (typically 2 days from home).
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Genuine long-term career progression within a FTSE 100 organisation.

If you’re a property or development lawyer looking to take the next step into a commercial, in-house role with real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
