We are seeking an experienced Pricing Lead to drive pricing strategy and delivery across a diverse portfolio of specialist motor insurance products, including commercial vehicles, motorcycles, specialist private vehicles, and short-term insurance. This role is responsible for leading pricing reviews, recommending and implementing rate changes, and monitoring the impact of pricing actions to support profitable and sustainable growth. Working closely with Product, Distribution and wider Pricing teams, you will translate portfolio performance, market trends and broker insight into clear commercial actions, using sound judgement to evolve pricing approaches that support business objectives, customer outcomes and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pricing Management
    • Lead pricing activity across a portfolio of specialist motor insurance products.
    • Conduct regular pricing reviews, develop rate change recommendations and oversee implementation.
    • Monitor portfolio performance, including loss ratios, contribution and trading results, identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
    • Recommend and implement pricing interventions to optimise profitability, growth and customer outcomes.
    • Maintain and prioritise a pricing action plan, ensuring initiatives are delivered and measured.
  • Pricing Strategy, Analytics & Model Development
    • Review and enhance pricing structures, rating factors, segmentation and model performance.
    • Develop and refine pricing methodologies appropriate for specialist insurance products.
    • Apply analytical techniques and pricing frameworks to improve pricing performance.
    • Ensure pricing solutions remain commercially practical and aligned with product strategy, available data and operational capability.
    • Support pricing for new products, product enhancements, distribution opportunities and pricing experiments.
  • Broker & Distribution Pricing
    • Assess the commercial viability of broker, partner and scheme opportunities, considering profitability, commission structures, loss ratios and long-term sustainability.
    • Provide pricing expertise for broker requests, distribution changes, market expansion opportunities and controlled market tests.
    • Analyse the impact of pricing and distribution decisions on portfolio performance and customer outcomes.
    • Produce evidence-based recommendations within governance frameworks.
    • Support broker and partner discussions by providing pricing and commercial insight.
  • Product Growth & Opportunity Assessment
    • Lead pricing input for new products, product enhancements and distribution models.
    • Evaluate commercial potential, pricing feasibility and portfolio impacts.
    • Design pricing frameworks and success measures for product launches, pilots and controlled tests.
    • Define post-launch monitoring requirements and assess outcomes against business objectives.
    • Ensure pricing recommendations balance commercial performance with customer outcomes.
  • Performance Insight & Governance
    • Present clear pricing insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
    • Translate pricing, trading and claims performance into meaningful commercial actions.
    • Maintain robust pricing documentation, governance records and decision rationale.
    • Support forecasting, planning and reporting with pricing analysis.
    • Work with Finance, Claims and other business areas to improve reporting, data quality and decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build strong relationships across Product, Claims, Finance, Distribution and Pricing teams.
    • Act as the pricing subject matter expert for the specialist products portfolio.
    • Communicate complex pricing concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

About You

  • Strong UK motor insurance pricing experience across retail and broker/partner-distributed business.
  • Experience leading pricing reviews, implementing rate changes and monitoring performance.
  • Knowledge of broker and partner pricing, commission structures, scheme economics and distribution performance.
  • A solid understanding of loss ratios, profitability, trading performance and underwriting considerations.
  • Experience reviewing pricing structures, segmentation, rating factors and predictive models.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance profitability, growth, risk appetite and customer outcomes.
  • Confidence working with evolving or imperfect datasets and applying pragmatic decision-making.
  • Excellent analytical skills, turning complex data into clear commercial recommendations.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across underwriting, distribution, claims, finance, business intelligence and pricing teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A structured, delivery-focused approach with experience taking pricing initiatives from analysis through to implementation and measurable business impact.
