Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor (6+ PQE) to join a highly regarded and growing specialist team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied caseload of deputyship and personal injury trust matters, supporting vulnerable clients and their families while working alongside leading Personal Injury and Medical Negligence practitioners. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload with appropriate supervision while also assisting senior team members on complex and high-value matters.

Key responsibilities of the Court of Protection Solicitor will include:

  • Managing a caseload of deputyship and personal injury trust matters
  • Handling the routine management of deputyships and personal injury trusts, with a focus on litigating and substantial settled cases
  • Liaising with clients, families, case managers and other professionals with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Working closely with Personal Injury and Medical Negligence teams on litigating cases
  • Assisting senior lawyers with complex Court of Protection matters
  • Drafting applications to the Court of Protection
  • Preparing annual Deputy Reports
  • Coordinating interim billing and detailed assessment of professional costs
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring efficient file management
  • Undertaking associated administrative duties as required

Required experience/qualifications of the Court of Protection Solicitor position will include:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 6+ years' PQE gained within an established Court of Protection team
  • Strong technical knowledge of deputyship and personal injury trust matters
  • Excellent client care and communication skills
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong IT proficiency
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards client service and career development
