Sellick Partnership are delighted to be supporting a local authority in Yorkshire with the recruitment of a Childcare Lawyer into their legal team.

Summary of the Childcare Lawyer opportunity

This is a chance to join the supportive and sociable Legal Team. Our client is seeking a qualified lawyer who has experience in Childcare Law from either private practice or local authority, and is looking for the next step in their career.

Main duties of the successful Childcare Lawyer will include:

  • Handling a caseload of mainly child protection cases and pre-proceedings matters.
  • Undertaking advocacy on behalf of the council.
  • Advising Social Services clients face‑to‑face and in writing, on all aspects of relevant legislation.
  • Preparing all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, particularly a wide variety of court documents, advising on social care law, and assisting the Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised matters as required.
  • Carrying out legal research.

Experience required for the Childcare Lawyer role:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal executive.
  • Exposure to one or more areas of Childcare Law would be beneficial.
