A Central Government Legal Department is looking for an experienced Public Law Lawyer to join their advisory team advising a London-based Ministerial Body. Our client is looking for passionate individuals to join their dynamic and growing legal department, and successfully assist and deliver a wide range of Public Law matters.

As a Public Law Advisory Lawyer, you will be working within a team that is dedicated to its clients and supportive of its team members.

Key responsibilities of the Public Law Advisory Lawyer:
  • Providing legal advice and public law advice to ministers and officials across the relevant portfolio.
  • Ensuring that the legal implications of a policy have been thought through, including involvement in legislation, working closely with policy leads and Parliamentary Counsel, as well as advising Ministers throughout a Bill's passage through Parliament.
  • Drafting secondary legislation.
  • Providing advisory support in legal challenges.
  • Providing litigation support in legal challenges pertaining to judicial review challenges against decisions.
  • Producing timely and fit for purpose, risk-based legal advice.
  • Responding in a creative manner to real-world events.
  • Supporting the Government in being accountable for its role.
Required skills and experience of the Public Law Advisory Lawyer:
  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in a Common Law Country.
  • Strong Public Law experience is essential.
  • Good drafting and written skills are essential.
  • Ability to meet time and billing targets is essential.
  • 2 years Post Qualifying Experience.
  • Experience in the Parliamentary process is desirable but not essential.
